Celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day in Westchester

Posted by editor on 03/03/16

St. Patrick’s Day is here and there are parades taking place all over Westchester the next few weeks. Here at The Castle our residents can tap into their Irish roots, or just pretend to be Irish for the day by participating in the fun holiday activities. Many parades this year are happening close by to Port Chester, with most less than a half hour from The Castle.

Break out your best green attire and join other local residents at one of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day events in Westchester! White Plains will host their annual parade on Saturday March 12th. Last year there were over 25 musical performances and just under 100 groups and organizations participating. This year it is expected to be just as extravagant–if not more! The parade takes place along Mamaroneck Ave, with many Westchester residents continuing the celebration after by hitting up the local bars in the area.

Looking to have a dual weekend of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations? Tarrytown’s parade will take place the following day on Sunday. This river town has fantastic views starting their parade on Main Street and ending on Beekman Ave. Concluding the parade you can head over to JP Doyle’s the authentic Irish spot in town to continue the fun. There will be a live band playing your favorite Irish tunes, great food and plenty to drink. Their beer garden will additionally be open in the back.

Other close by towns will also be celebrating! Eastchester will be hosting their annual celebration the Sunday of St. Patrick’s Day weekend. If you can’t get enough of the delicious Irish bread, Irish dancing and music, Mamaroneck will host their parade the following weekend on March 20th. For even more good ol’ fun, Connecticut lads and lassies will behaving fun holiday events too! Close by to Port Chester, Greenwich Connecticut has their very own parade on St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
