Parks Around Port Chester for Spring

Posted by editor on 04/14/16

After being cooped up all winter, the April weather is thawing out Westchester and giving us some opportunity to get out and explore our local greenery again. Although The Castle is in Port Chester, New York we are just a few miles from the well-known town of Greenwich, Connecticut and have put together a list of fun outdoor activities for you around there.

Greenwich Point Park is under 20 minutes away and is the most visited park in Greenwich with miles of walking trails, a public beach, water activities and views of the New York City Skyline.

The Greenwich Audubon Center opened in 1942 as the National Audubon Socities first environmental education center.  With over 280 acres of land, it provides a home to a large number of native plants and animals.  You’ll find nature education programs, walking tails and conservation events.  This is a great place to visit if you are interested in learning about the environment.  For more information what Greenwich Audubon has to offer visit their website for events and ideas on how to get involved.

With The Castle being a pet friendly community, Abendroth Park is a perfect place for you to visit.  It’s the best dog Park in Port Chester thanks to residents, dog walkers and donators who teamed up with the Port Chester Dog Group to make the park a reality! The park has three separate areas; big dogs, small dogs and dogs that may need their own space for a bit.
