Perfect Fall Day Trip Around The Castle

Posted by editor on 09/07/16

Now that Labor Day Weekend has come and gone we can welcome Autumn! The Castle is surrounded by beautiful towns and cities that are perfect for a scenic day trip.  Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are always listed as top 10 places to visit in New York.  They are both very charming and have a lot of historic sites such as the Tarrytown Music Hall, Kykuit Mansion and riverfront parks.  Lucky for you both are only 15 miles from The Castle apartment complex.  Below are a few spots you must see when visiting these towns!

Kykuit Rockefeller is a 40-room mansion on a beautiful verdant estate with stunning views of the Hudson River.  This hilltop paradise was home to four generations of the Rockefeller family.  It’s now a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and has been meticulously maintained for over 100 years.  They also offer tours so make sure to book ahead of time before your trip!

Tarrytown Music Hall is a historic 843-seat music hall built in 1885 by chocolate manufacturer William Wallace.  It’s the oldest theater in Westchester County and one of 6% of theaters in the United States built before 1900!

Some parks we suggest visiting are Kingsland Point County Park, Pierson Park and the Rockefeller State Park Preserve.  Bring your camera because you will definitely get great shots to brag about on Facebook and Instagram.

Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture is the perfect place to visit if you love growing and/or eating vegetables and fruit.  Stone Barns is on 80 acres of farmland, woods and gardens making you feel a world away.  They have many activities going on during the fall such ass garlic harvests, farmer’s markets and egg collecting.
