Local Farmers Market for Fall

Posted by editor on 10/18/16

The Down to Earth Farmers Market was founded is still in full swing and always has fresh seasonal produce and organic products.  It’s the perfect place to do your grocery shopping for the week and stock up on fall favorites. Only a 10-minute drive from The Castle, we picked out some booths you must check out on your next visit.  The market runs until December 4th.

Archaea Organics – They are a USDA certified organic company in Hudson Valley, NY and specialize in chocolate.  We love their creamy chocolate hazelnut spread called “nutty” and they also have a dairy free spread available.  Their products are gluten-free and vegan so you won’t feel as guilty when you indulge in this treat!

Arlotta Food Studio – If you love olive oils, balsamic vinegars and pasta then you won’t want to miss this company! They infuse their oils with creative flavors such as fig, blood orange, lemon and hot pepper.  They also specialize in dried pasta which you can pick up at the market or their website. Our favorite is the spinach and garlic fettucine.

Greenhook Ginsmiths – You don’t have to travel to Brooklyn to purchase this Gin! They produce some of the finest Gins in the world and their products are made from many ingredients grown in New York State.  They are also carried by many of New York’s finest restaurants.  Grab a bottle for your next gathering at your apartment!

Pie Lady & Son – One of favorite vendors which will be at the farmer’s market until they close in December.  The company is run by Wil Tyler and his mom, Deborah, who learned the art of baking in England.  They have been going strong since 1996 and even had a nice article about them in the New York Times.  Her crust is what sets her pies apart from others.  They are currently taking orders for Thanksgiving and you can also visit their shop in Nyack which is only about a 25-minute car ride from The Castle.
