Food Truck Frenzy in Rye This Weekend

Posted by editor on 06/23/17

Our neighboring city, Rye, will be hosting a food truck festival on June 24th which won’t disappoint any foodies out there.  Lucky for Port Chester residents, it’ll take place just 2.5 miles from your apartment.  It’s a quick ten-minute drive or you can take a lovely stroll or bike ride along the water into Rye and indulge in some delicious food. The festival will have all types of food to suit every taste bud, from BBQ to lobster rolls, pizza, Mexican and more.  There will also be live music and cold drinks! Some of the vendors you should check out are:

Boxcar Cantina – A family owned and operated restaurant featuring an authentic Northern New Mexican cuisine, which moves beyond Southwest/Tex-Mex. Northern New Mexican is a blend of three cultures – Native American, Spanish and Anglo-European.  Since 1994, when they first opened, they pride themselves on offering some of the most delicious food in Greenwich by using only the highest quality ingredients.

LobsterCraft – If you love seafood, specifically lobster, you won’t be able to walk past this truck and not purchase anything. This business started in 2012 when Captain William Michael Harden bought a strong, sturdy lobster boat handmade in Maine.  After friends and family started asking him to catch, cook and prepare lobster for them, he realized he could turn it into a business and bought a food truck in 2012 so he could serve fresh lobster to seafood lovers.  They also offer drop-off and full-service catering.

Melt Mobile – Who doesn’t love crispy warm melted sandwiches? The Melt Mobile was launched in 2012 with two friends purchased a paddy wagon.  Combining their culinary and business experience, they’ve had a thriving business ever since.  They are known for their “Original Melt” (classic grilled cheese) and their pulled pork, Angus burger and slow braised short rib melt.  Sweet lovers will be happy to hear they also serve dessert melts such as The Fluffernutter (caramelized bananas, marshmallow fluff, Belgian chocolate and peanut butter on crunchy Tuscan bread dusted with powdered Sugar).
