Getting Artsy in Port Chester

Posted by editor on 07/20/17

Have you thought of starting a new hobby or becoming more active in the community? Lucky for Castle residents, the Clay Art Center in Port Chester is a nationally recognized non-profit center which offers classes and exhibits for both adults and children.  They were founded in 1957 by Katherine Choy and Henry Okamoto, and today they are still expanding and proud to serve the Westchester community.  Their mission is to touch and enrich lives through art.  They aim to offer a stimulating space for studio practice, exhibition and educational opportunities to better serve the community.  Recently they won “Best Artsy Night Out” in Best of Westchester.

Not only will you be able to express your creative side at the Clay Art Center, but working with clay has a lot of therapeutic qualities.  It’s a creative outlet, helps to improve your focus, reduces stress and captures memories!

On July 22nd, they will also be hosting REDUX: Transformations 6 x 6.  It will feature 185 ceramic artists who have created one of a kind 6” x 6” ceramic tiles to be hung in a grid in the gallery. This exhibit will be of particular interest to interior designers looking for ideas and inspiration for custom tile.
