Celebrating National Grilled Cheese Day in Port Chester

Posted by editor on 04/09/18

Who doesn’t love gooey melted cheese and toasted bread? Well, you are in luck because April 12th is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. The classic American grilled cheese sandwich dates to the 1920s when inexpensive processed cheese became available (as did sliced bread). Grilled cheese is now a favorite comfort food in cafés, diners, school cafeterias, and some of the trendiest restaurants in the country, including some right by your Castle apartment.

Rye House – This lavish truffle grilled cheese includes Gouda, Fontina, arugula, mushroom, and taro root which is on their dinner menu and they also have a breakfast grilled cheese with fried eggs, bacon, diced potatoes, and aged cheddar offered at brunch.

Marini’s Deli – This deli is known to be one of the best in town.  They are known for their delicious sandwiches and friendly staff.  Whether you want some fresh coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner, Marini’s has it all! Their grilled cheese sandwich is simple yet delicious and is only a few minutes from your Castle apartment.

Melt Mobile Food Truck – This truck specializes in everyone’s favorite comfort food; grilled cheese. They have 7 diverse types of grilled cheeses, but our favorite is the Original Melt (Vermont Cheddar, Monterrey Jack, Mozzarella and Gruyere on Country White Bread).  Some other favorites are the pulled pork grilled cheese and the slow braised short rib grilled cheese.
