Where to Hit the Beach in Westchester

Posted by editor on 06/27/18

Those eager to lounge out by the ocean or splash around in the water needn’t drive an hour or more back and forth to Jones Beach or Asbury Park. Right here in Westchester County, close to your Castle apartment, are several beaches open and available to the public. Pack up the car and travel the relatively short distance to one of the county’s several surfside havens:

Glen Island Park – This 130-acre property is perfectly situated right on the Long Island Sound and offers picnic pavilions, reserved and open picnic areas, pathways, boat launching, a restaurant and more. The park is open Wednesday – Sunday from 11am-6:30pm.  Parking is $10.00.

Croton Point Park Beach – Enjoy this 508-acre park sits on a peninsula along the Hudson River’s eastern shore.  The beach and water is beautiful and the perfect place to spend a summer’s day.  History buff’s will also be interested in knowing that archeologists have dated human life here to as far back as 7,000 years ago! The beach area wraps around the entire property, so there’s plenty of room to lay out and enjoy fun beach activities.

Rye Town Park & Beach – If you’re looking for a great beach for a big group of people, look no further! Rye Town Beach’s 1,200-foot long turf offers general-public access to the Long Island Sound and you can head to dinner at Pier Restaurant and Tiki Bar after!
